Microsoft、Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 2を公開

米Microsoftは5月4日(現地時間)、米国ラスベガスで開催しているエンタープライズ テクノロジ カンファレンス「Microsoft Ignite 2015」において、「Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 2」と「System Center 2016 Technical Preview 2」のリリースを発表した。

同社はこれまで、クライアントOSであるWindowsとサーバOSであるWindows Serverの最新版を同時期にリリースしてきたが、今年1月、次期最新版については、WindowsとWindows Serveのリリース時期を分けると発表。

Windows 10が2015年夏に発表される予定であるのに対し、Windows Server 2016とSystem Center 2016は2016年に発表される予定。

「Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 2」は、軽量のWindows Serverを動かすことができるオプション「Nano Server」が追加されているほか、仮想化に関する機能が拡張されている。

コンテナ技術Windows Server Container」と「Hyper-V Container」は、次のプレビュー版となるTechnical Preview 3に追加される予定とのことだ。

「Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 2」は、TechNetのEvaluation Centerですでに公開されている。

「System Center 2016 Technical Preview 2」では、DSC(Desired State Configuration)やネイティブSSHのサポートなどのLinuxに関する管理機能が改善されたほか、Software Defined Datacenterの管理機能、Azure/Office365/SQL Server/Exchangeの新たな監視機能が追加されている。

「System Center 2016 Technical Preview 2」は、TechNetのEvaluation Centerですでに公開されている。
