我が子を亡くした母犬に、母親のいない子猫を近づけると…　奇跡が起きた

アメリカ・アリゾナ州にある動物保護施設『サンシャイン・ドッグ・レスキュー』がガソリンスタンドに住み着いていた野良犬を保護しました。

『ジョージア』と名付けられたメス犬はガリガリに痩せていて健康状態が悪く、妊娠していたといいます。

施設のスタッフはジョージアの出産に備えて万全の準備をしていました。

しかし子犬たちは予定よりもかなり早く産まれてしまい、残念ながら生まれてすぐに亡くなってしまったのです。

我が子を亡くした母犬に母親を亡くした子猫を近づけると

ジョージアは出産後、亡くなった我が子をずっと探し続け、すっかり元気をなくしてしまったのだそう。スタッフはそんな彼女の姿を見て心を痛めていたといいます。

そんな時、同じタイミングで母親のいない３匹の子猫が保護されます。

そこでスタッフはジョージアのそばに子猫たちを置いてみることにします。

すると子猫たちは母親のようにジョージアを求め始め、ジョージアもそんな子猫たちをすんなりと受け入れたのです。

種を超えてお互いを求め合う犬と猫の『親子』の姿はまさに奇跡そのもの。『サンシャイン・ドッグ・レスキュー』のFacebookに投稿されているジョージアの写真や動画からは、子猫のおかげで我が子を失った悲しみが癒され、母親としての喜びを感じている様子が伝わってきます。

また子猫たちもジョージアのことを本当のお母さんだと思っているのでしょう。

実はジョージアは出産の際に体に腫瘍が見つかりました。その治療が始まると数週間は子猫たちと会えなくなるため、ジョージアが精神的に落ち込んでしまわないように、スタッフは少しずつジョージアと子猫たちを離ればなれにすることにしたのだとか。

するとジョージアは子猫たちのいるケージの前で「開けて！」というように待っていたのです。

すっかり我が子を愛する母親そのものですね。

治療を終えたジョージアと子猫たちはついに別々の生活を送ることになります。

ジョージアはまた孤独になるわけではありません。

子猫たちに別れを告げた彼女を待っていたのは、里親のトーラー・ジェイコブズさん。

２０２０年９月、ジョージアは『マイロ』という新しい名前をもらい、トーラーさんと一緒に暮らし始めています。

野良犬として暮らした後で子犬たちを失い、子猫との出会いによって悲しみを癒し、やっと自らの家族を手に入れたマイロ。

今までたくさん苦労したぶん、これからはトーラーさんから愛情をたっぷり受けて幸せに暮らしてほしいですね。
