First of all, I can’t even begin to tell you, my readers, how VERY PROUD I am of how Japan has handled this terrible earthquake/tsunami/nuclear threat disaster that has hit you as a country. There is NO OTHER country that would handle such pressure and adversity with such strength and grace. And I am proud to say that Japan is MY home country. On a person note, Sendai was actually the first city that I ever lived in when I moved to Japan. I was there from 5-8yrs old. And I have always called Sendai my "jimoto".So I was so devastated to see all the damage.
Now I am not alone in being SO impressed with the way all of you have handled this crisis. Everyone here in the United States is also very impressed and astonished at how strong you all are.

I believe it is in times like this that REAL character is shown. Speaking of showing character...there are many celebrities that have been standing up and using their fame to help raise money for the cause. The FIRST one to really show compassion and make a difference is a celebrity who, over the past two years or so, has become very popular here in Japan. I am talking about Lady Gaga...
She is probably right now one of the most popular "international stars" and she was also one of the FIRST celebrities to raise money for Japan. She announced that she was going to raise money for Japan by selling red and white wristbands which say "We Pray for Japan", on her website for $5 in the US. Forty-eight hours later Lady Gaga got on her site to praise her "little monsters" (which is what she calls her fans)
